Cordes-sur-Ciel is on the most beautiful villages in the region. It is perched on the top of the mountain and offers the most breathtaking views. It is one of the locations that we visit on our painting holidays! You start your walk at the bottom of the village and wind your way up the steep, cobbled street to the top, on the way passing many local artists studios.
Other places to visit which are close by include the village of Lautrec, which is very beautiful. Revel and the near by Lake Saint Ferreol which was created to store the water for the Canal du Midi, this is also a great place for picnics and long walks.
The Tarn region is very beautiful with hills full of vines and bright yellow sunflowers, the regions is famous for its rose coloured houses and tree lined streets. The local delicacies are found everywhere ranging from Roquefort cheese, cassoulet and prunes steeped in armagnac. The local wines from Gaillac are excellent, perfect for drinking while basking in the warm Tarn sunshine.
