FISHING !!! A short 5 day break relaxing from the normal lunacy of running a business; fishing opportunities; great scenery and good food and wine. These were all on the must have list drawn up for a November break. I would like to thank my better half, Julie, for finding a perfect place in Okalani.
The fishing was great and species varied with location - Barbel, Trout, Carp, Zander, Pike, Chub.
Simon was a great guide, showing me the hotspots, some only a 1 minute walk away. My early mornings and late afternoons were spent catching lean and powerful barbel - 4 fish before breakfast was the catch phrase.
All this with fantastic and changing scenery all about you.
If there is a fisherman's heaven then I think this is it.
Julie and I would like to thank you both for the fine food and conversation we enjoyed in between the fishing expeditions. Our batteries are fully recharged, and I'll be back hunting those monster trout in the Black Mountain lake again soon.

PS. Ask for the chocolate and lime cheescake - you will not be disappointed.

Sitting at home on a cold, wet Saturday October night at home in Surrey, we have just spent 15 minutes mesmerised by my screensaver photos, which are dominated by pictures of our toddler son Callum having the best of times on our Okalani-based holiday this summer. Memories come flooding back of warmth, relaxation, comfort and entertainment, provided in abundance by Simon and Sarha and the beautiful location of Okalani.

It would be difficult to exaggerate the quality of care we received from Sarha and Simon – fantastic food and wine, excellent conversation, and a beautiful location. Their efforts to ensure the happiness of their guests are truly amazing, complemented by the generosity of their delightful boys Gabriel and Noah in sharing their home.

Days were spent exploring the endless local and regional sights and attractions with the support of Sarha and Simon’s fantastic local knowledge, and long evenings at Sarha’s superb table d’hote with its definitive comedic waiter - Simon. Long periods at the table are difficult with a two-year old, but with Simon’s inexhaustible energy and talent for children’s entertainment, and his ability to spot the harassed parent, we found ourselves looking forward each day to getting “home”.

If you are looking for the peerless family holiday, look no further - we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Finally, Callum would like to say: “cat, woof, Noah, Mita!” – he remembers!

Well what can one say? In a nutshell - it's great for kids and relaxing for adults. You are made very welcome by the hosts and their sons and their pets. We think - worth a revisit!
