Okalani Chambres d'hotes near Montagne Noire - Bed and Breakfast
Within easy reach of the chambres d'hotes is the Montagne Noire, a beautiful range of mountains that vary in colour and atmosphere throughout the year, a must to visit.
The Montagne Noire regional park of the Haut-Languedoc is situated between the Tarn and the Hérault departments.
Due to the different influences of both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean you can see the diversity of vegetation. The lush and flowering vegitatain influenced from the Mediterranean and the beech trees which are growing due to wetter climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean.Within the mountain are a number of mountain lakes which are fantastic for swimming and other water sports. The nearest ones to Okalani are Lac de Montagne, Le Lac de Pradelles and Lac de Merle. The Lac de Merle is part of the Sidobre circuit.
Le Lac de Pradelles" (Pradelles Lake) located at about 30kms from Burlats, and is not only great for swimming, but has pedal boats and tennis courts for hire too. The scenery is breathtaking and and it is extremely peaceful and completely unspoiled. The lake is a perfect location for families with children as there is a lifeguard watching over the lake. Lac du Montagne - again a beautiful lake, but far larger and more commercial, this is the lake where the French spend their weekends and holidays. There is a wooden play boat in the shallow waters of the lake and again a lifeguard is present. There are a couple of restaurants next to the lake offering a variety of menus. There is a lovely walk all around the lake with public barbecues and picnic spots.
Mountain lakes make a wonderful day out, whether just for a walk or a swim and a barbecue and all these lakes are within a 40 minute drive from Okalani.
