Swimming and Outdoor Leisure Activities
L’Archipel Swimming Pool Complex
L’Archipel offers both inside and outside swimming pools and it is only a 5 minute drive from Okalani. It is a fantastic place to spend a day whether you have a family or not. The entry price is from 2€ per person for the whole day depending on what time and day you go.
There are beds provided beside the pool and there is a large grassy area for picnics etc. A children’s climbing frame is provided for the younger guests and there is also a volley ball pitch for the more energetic, all this for just 2 euro!
Picnics can be provided by us at a small charge to take to L’Archipel, but alternatively the café/restaurant there is very good value.
L’Archipel is open from 10am to 6pm most days.
GOURJADE
GourjadeGourjade is a large park area located 5 minutes drive from the Chambre d’hote. Within Gourjade is a large children’s play ground with a huge spider’s web climbing frame. There is also a mini golf course which is a great way to while away an hour or two.

Gourjade is also one of the stops for Le Coche d’eau – a large wooden boat which sails along the River Agout into the center of Castres past all the ancient workers houses. The trip takes around 45 minutes and runs during the summer between May and October, there are 4 departures during the day and the costs are approximately 5 euros for an adult and 2 euros for children. It is definitely worth a trip on!
BORDE BASSE
Borde Basse is another park area just 5 minutes from Okalani. Borde Basse has a number of activities which includes a skate board park, a fishing lake, rugby pitches, football pitches, tennis courts and a huge equestrian center. Pony riding is available if enough notice is given.
SIDOBRE
Just a 20 minute drive from Okalani is an area which is called Sidobre. This is area of strange stone and rock formations, huge bolders cover the ground and many stones have now been given names. There is a huge trembling rock called Roches Tremlantes. Sidobre is a large tourist attraction and has a visitor center and there are trips to do both in the car and by foot. The rocks are made of granite and have been created by a constant flow of water eroding the rocks.
The main industry around Sidobre and Burlats is Granite, it is blown out of the quarry and then the majority of it is made into headstones. There a number of boutiques in the surrounding towns that sell souvenirs made out of the local granite.
Mountain Lake
Lac de la Raviage is about an hours drive from Okalani. It is one of the most commercial lakes in the area with pedalos and small boats available for rent. The views are stunning and the swimming is great, the sand is quite course but it is a great place for a day out. We can provide picnic lunches for your day trip to the lakes, but if you fancy a great French lunch there is a good restaurant beside the lake.
